A Brooklyn care briefing

# Ask whether the proof matches the product on offer

A chart or a confident phrase can feel like an answer. Ask what was actually tested and how that connects to the medicine being proposed for you.

## Make the comparison specific

Copy the claim into a note, then ask the clinician to walk through it. Leave space beside it for the reply.

- Was the same product studied?

- Was it studied for the condition we are discussing?

- What was compared, and what result mattered to the people taking part?

- What does the evidence leave unanswered for my situation?

## Watch for a borrowed result

Clinical studies are studies involving people.

FDA, the US medicine agency, warns about claims for medicines made to order. It calls advertising false or misleading if it says studies in people prove these medicines match approved drugs’ results. [\[a\]](#source-a)

This advertising advice was checked on September 26, 2026. [\[a\]](#source-a)

- Ask whether the result being shown belongs to the exact product on offer.

- Ask the clinician to explain any gap between the study and the proposal.

## A report is a clue, not a verdict

Receiving a report of a problem does not tell FDA whether the medicine caused it. Advice about interpreting reports checked: September 17, 2026. [\[b\]](#source-b)

The reports do not give the rate of a problem across all people who use the medicine. [\[b\]](#source-b)

- Ask what kind of evidence supports a claim about benefit or harm.

- Ask what is known about the product, rather than treating every peptide as the same thing.
