A Brooklyn care briefing

# Ask who would prepare and send the medicine

Keep this question even if the visit and the payment happen on the same website. Write down the actual pharmacy’s name, then check that name in the state’s records.

## Check the pharmacy behind a website’s claims

FDA, the US medicine agency, notes that an online customer may not know who actually made a medicine prepared to order. [\[a\]](#source-a)

New York’s public search lists pharmacies with state registration—the state’s permission to operate. These search details were checked on September 28, 2026. [\[b\]](#source-b)

- What is the pharmacy’s full official name?

- Would that name appear on the medicine label?

- How would I reach a pharmacist with questions?

## Check a pharmacy outside New York too

A pharmacy outside New York generally needs New York registration before mailing prescription medicines into the state. It also needs a licence where it operates. The pharmacy rules here were checked on September 28, 2026. [\[c\]](#source-c)

New York may make an exception for a pharmacy sending 600 or fewer prescriptions into the state in a calendar year. The limit concerns that pharmacy’s total, not just your package. [\[e\]](#source-e)

If the pharmacy claims an exception, ask New York’s pharmacy office to confirm how the rule applies to it.

- Look up the pharmacy’s name, rather than the service’s marketing name.

- Ask how its registration covers prescriptions sent to New York.

- Keep the answer with the product name and written quote.

## Registered does not mean approved

A drug-making business with FDA registration is entered in the federal agency’s records. That entry does not mean the medicine has approval or that it may legally be sold. Federal registration rule checked: September 26, 2026. [\[d\]](#source-d)

- Keep this federal record separate from the New York pharmacy check above. Ask what the website’s claims about the pharmacy actually prove.

- Ask who answers product questions after delivery.

- Use the compounding briefing to ask about the medicine itself.
